Easy Invest

Deciding to invest can be exciting, but with so many things to consider it’s hard to know where to begin. That's where Easy Invest comes in - helping you with an investment suggestion if you're not sure how to get started.

Important information - the value of investments can go down as well as up, so you may get back less than you invest. You can invest in Easy Invest through an ISA, SIPP or Investment Account. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and all tax rules may change in the future. This information is not a personal recommendation for any particular investment. If you are unsure about the suitability of an investment you should speak to one of Fidelity’s advisers or an authorised financial adviser of your choice.

A low cost fund to get you started

The Fidelity Index World Fund

This fund gives you access to some of the world’s biggest companies and their collective share price performance.

To do this, the fund aims to closely follow the MSCI World Index, which keeps track of these companies, and spreads your money across them. This keeps costs low and makes sure your investment is well-diversified.

  • The fund manager monitors and changes the companies in line with the index, so you don’t have to
  • It’s a great way to own a slice of different companies, and spread risk across a wide range of shares
  • We’ve arranged a discount on the annual management charges of the fund, reducing this to 0.1% (usually 0.12%)

How much does this cost?

You will pay a service fee of 0.35% if you invest more than £25,000, or if you set up a regular savings plan, which can start from £25 a month. If you were to invest £1,000 over one year, using a regular savings plan, your charges would break down like this:

Fund charge (0.1%)

£1

This covers the cost of running the fund and includes our discount

Service fee (0.35%)

+ £1.90

The fee you pay for holding an account with Fidelity

Annual total = £2.90

= £2.90

Based on investing £1,000 over a year with a regular savings plan

This is a simplified example and the actual fee you pay will vary depending on how your investments perform. If you hold less than £25,000 with Fidelity and do not have a regular savings plan, our service fee is £90 (£7.50 a month) for the year. Read more about our fees and charges.

Is Easy Invest right for you?

It could be for you if:

  • You want a low-cost, easy way to start investing in the stock market
  • You don't know much about investing, but just want to get started
  • You want to invest for the long term (5+ years)

It's not for you if:

  • You're looking for a guaranteed return, or you are not prepared to take investment risk
  • You want the fund to provide you with a regular income
  • You're looking for a quick way to make money
  • You're seeking personal advice

Risks and things to consider

  • Investing in funds or the stock market opens the opportunity for making your money work harder, but the value of investments can go down as well as up, so you might get back less than you invest.
  • Remember that while cash may be vulnerable to the effects of inflation, it is secure, unlike funds or the stock market.
  • Investing tends to work better over the longer term (through the ups and downs of markets) so investing for 5 years and over improves your chances of better returns, although this isn't guaranteed.
