FTSE 100 movers: Miners gain as metals prices rise; Rightmove in the red
(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 100 was up 0.4% at 7,047.29 in afternoon trade on Tuesday. Going the other way, miners Antofagasta and Glencore rose as metals prices advanced.
On the downside, property portal Rightmove was the worst performer on the index as investors fretted about the impact of higher interest rates on the property sector.
Admiral shares slumped after Bloomberg reported an offering of 1.61m shares in the insurance company. The offering was priced at 2,011p, according to terms of the deal obtained by Bloomberg, to raise £32m.
United Utilities lost ground as it warned on profits after the water company was hit by lower consumption and higher costs.
The firm, which provides water and wastewater services in the north west, said consumption had been "moderately" lower than forecast so far this year. As a result, interim group revenue is now expected to be around 1% lower than the first half of last year, while full-year revenues are also likely to come in below previous guidance.
